Having trouble writing an ESXi boot image? Balena Etcher not doing it? No surprise: the image is a collection of voodoo.
Thankfully, it turns out that the VMWare folks do actually provide a full guide to doing this under Linux.
Hopefully putting this here means I don’t go through several attempts and USB drives trying this next time.
